Sandstone formation at Red Rocks

Sandstone formation at Red Rocks

Red sandstone formation accentuated by snowfall in Red Rocks Park in the foothills west of Denver.

About this place:

Red Rocks Park operated and maintained by the City and County of Denver. Located in the foothills west of Denver. These sandstone formations, though similar to the ones in Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs, provide a different flavor. Also the amphitheater is host to many a concert in summer months as well as sunrise services at Easter.

Red Rocks is one of the most amazing places on the planet to see a concert. It's stunningly beautiful, and (of course) all-natural. Nature's own amphitheater. I saw a bunch of concerts here -- including a series of Grateful Dead shows -- in 1987.
