The impact crater from the Barringer meteor.
The Barringer crater was created about 50,000 years ago when a meteorite that was about 150 feet wide smashed into earth. The crater is now about a mile wide and nearly 600 feet deep. There is a visitor center and a several tours that take you around the rim of the crater. In the 60s the crater was used to train astronauts for the moon landing, as it was the closest analog that they could find to the moon.
