Craggy Gardens is one of the most beautiful stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway. In summer, rhododendrons and other wildflowers cover the land with vivid color--one of the brightest displays along the parkway.
George Vanderbilt officially opened the home to friends and family on Christmas Eve in 1895. He had created a country retreat where he could pursue his passion for art, literature, and horticulture.

After my wife and I woke up and went swimming at the hotel, we hit the streets looking for breakfast. The tall buildings sucked the sharp, windy cold in to the bottom of the street and wouldn't let it go.
