Part of the McMenamin's empire of hotels, restaurants and bars, Kennedy School is a renovated old elementary school that has been turned into a complex of restaurant, hotel, bars, movie theater and brewery. The result is a fantastically odd and fun experience of school themed decoration, including a bar called detention, and hotel rooms with chalkboards in them.
This restaurant, previously a General Store, located in the charming Old Elk Grove, is also a brewery of micro beers. The decor was charming and displayed several large, working copper beer making containers.
When we got there around 6:00, a live band was setting up.
Apple Hill, located off Highway 50 between Placerville and Lake Tahoe, is best known for the many apple vendors and beautiful scenery. There are wineries with tasting rooms, micro-breweries with tasting rooms, fruit vendors, and Christmas tree farms.
