After our flight from Boston to Paris then on to Istanbul we were ready to take in as many sights as we could possibly fit in our three days before we sailed the Aegean.
Streets of Istanbul is full of interesting people and faces.
Galata is more than a tower looking over Beyoğlu. Originally founded by Italian traders, the district is home to a bustling fish market, the city's old banking district, some lovely, tucked-away churches and mosques, and stunning views of the Galata Bridge.
Each year, in the height of the summer, a network of social groups organise a free rock festival in a forest just outside of Istanbul.
Topkapi Palace is the largest and the oldest palace in the world to survive till present day.
My window is on Istanbul. I stayed here for four months summer 2007 with the aim of trying to understand the city.
