One morning in the Vietnamese town of Chau Doc, located near the Cambodian border, I rented a motorbike so that I could spend a day leisurely puttering past hamlets and fields in the surrounding countryside. When I came upon these kids -- they had just spent the day in the fields with their parents and were now on their way home -- we smiled and laughed at the enjoyable sight we were to each other...something we never could have done had we been rushing by in automobiles.
I was lucky enought to ride with a boat racing team on the Mekong River in Laos near Vientiane. This team was practicing and I sat in the front with my cameras ready.
Boat Racing on the Mekong brings excitement and heartache. I watched from the coaches boat with the pink flag fell behind in the race.
This young rower on the Laos Boat Racing team was focused. I loved his cowboy hat and bandana, making him look like a Laoation Cowboy....and definitely a competitor.
5.30am: Time to wake up, today we are gonna cross the river and enjoy the sunset over Luang Prabang from a temple on the other side of the river. For 2$ per head, our slow boat driver will make us cross the Mekong river and wait for us to bring us back to town.
Time crawls as you slowly cruise down the the Mekong River. It forces you to slow down, breathe, and observe the beauty of daily life in Cambodia.
