If you're a tourist in San Francisco, even if you're not staying there, you will end up, at some point, at Union Square. Union Square is the home to much of the upscale retail in the city, as well as being the location of many hotels and restaurants.
Canyon de Chelly is a National monument that is within the Navajo Nation and is in partnership with the National Park Service. Most of the land is off limits unless you are with a park ranger, or a Navajo guide, but you can see plenty from the ridge road that runs along it.

The long road to Monument Valley, an American Icon of beauty and serenity, is well worth the day “off the beaten path.” If I could have my choice, I would be there for both sunrise and sunset.
