This is an absolutely amazing villa- the summer home of Nero's second wife, and incredibly well preserved. Large parts of it are still buried under several metres of volcanic mud, but the rooms you can access are beautifully decorated.
As it is less well known than Pompeii and Herculaneum we were lucky to have the place to ourselves - I would recommend a visit
The villa was being renovated when Vesuvius erupted in AD79 so the frescoes are like new. The furniture was all in a store room when the villa was excavated.
The villa is full of beautifully decorated rooms and indoor gardens
The Naples Grande Beach Resort is a short walk along a Mandrake lined boardwalk to the Gulf Coast of Florida. Formerly the Registry Resort & Club, the Grande underwent a multimillion dollar revitalization.
