    Isleton Joe's is located in the small Sacramento Delta town of Isleton. (Isleton is known for crawdads and has a crawdad festival in June.)

    The restaurant was charming, clean and busy.

    The Cosumnes River Preserve is located between Sacramento and Stockton, in the heart of Northern California's lush Central Valley. It encompasses more than 46,000 acres.

    The Cosumnes River is quite small (80 miles) but it is the only remaining unregulated river on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevadas.

    This is a tiny zoo located in the historic town of Folsom, CA. You can leisurely walk through the zoo in about an hour and a half.

    This gold mine was the largest and richest gold mine in California. It is also the oldest mine, but is no longer in operation.

    Apple Hill, located off Highway 50 between Placerville and Lake Tahoe, is best known for the many apple vendors and beautiful scenery. There are wineries with tasting rooms, micro-breweries with tasting rooms, fruit vendors, and Christmas tree farms.
