We encountered this massive creature just outside the town of Edzo, Northwest Territories. It's a northern Bison and they just find a piece of wet earth, dig it up a little, and plunk themselves down to cool off for the afternoon!
There are far fewer people at the beaches in Oregon than in California, but Highway 101 running right along much of the coast here channels tourist from all over the state to sea-side resorts. Towns on that route have all the cheap t-shirts you could want, but my favorite places in Oregon are off of a road less traveled.
Cape Kiwanda is located just outside Pacific City and is the southern most cape in the three capes scenic route. It is a popular location for surfers, wakeboarders, and beachcombers.
The St. Johns bridge spans the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.
The Astor Column is an Astoria icon, towering 125’ above this historical and scenic little town. You will wind around the roads with gorgeous scenery to Coxcomb Hill.
Just outside Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park in Washington state is the 90 foot Marymere Falls. The path to Marymere runs through an old growth lowland forest offering massive cedar trees and spectacular 100+ year old fir trees that tower some 200 feet above the ground.
The Space Needle was conceived by Edward Carlson for the 1962 World's Fair. It was built on a 120' X 120' plot of ground for $4.5 million.
