No matter how many waterfalls you've seen before this one is a gem. Flowing year-round onto deserted pristine California sands, it's one of the most picturesque spots around Big Sur.
Come for the view of the falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, then try the hiking trails among the giant redwood trees across the road.

In 1896 Adolph Sutro built what the current incarnation of the Cliff House is based on. The building survived the San Francisco earthquake in 1906, but was burned down by a fire in 1907.

This fantastic Mediterranean-style palazzo on Miami Beach's Ocean Drive built in 1930 as an apartment complex, was the stately retreat of celebrated fashion designer, Gianni Versace. Named Casa Casuarina, in honor of Somerset Maugham whose story collection has been called "The Casuarina Tree," the mansion is situated in the heart of Miami's Art Deco district.
There are far fewer people at the beaches in Oregon than in California, but Highway 101 running right along much of the coast here channels tourist from all over the state to sea-side resorts. Towns on that route have all the cheap t-shirts you could want, but my favorite places in Oregon are off of a road less traveled.
Ocean Beach makes up the entire west side of the San Francisco peninsula, where the Pacific meets the dunes. The Great Highway (Highway 35) runs the length of it, from Geary Blvd by the Cliff House to the North, to Sloat Blvd by the zoo to the South.
