    Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located in southwestern Colorado and contains the canyon over the Gunnison River. It is one of the steepest canyons in North America.

    My mother grew up in the Bronx, married my father at 18 and moved to Ohio.

    As a kid, my family made a few trips to New York to visit my grandfather in Manhattan, relatives on Long Island and New Jersey, and my mother's childhood best friend on Staten Island.

    With the exception of riding the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan we'd done nothing typically touristy.

    Until last year, I'd not really spent any time in New York as an adult, and I'd been wanting to walk the Brooklyn Bridge for a long time.
