  1. Riding in Torres del Paine

    Hotel Explora has a full stable and offers riding for beginners and experts. While we were there, one lady did nothing but gallop across the hills the entire time.

    I was lucky enought to ride with a boat racing team on the Mekong River in Laos near Vientiane. This team was practicing and I sat in the front with my cameras ready.

    The team leaves after a long day of racing. They seemed quite happy riding in the 'team bus'...or maybe they were just happy to be done with a long day on the river!

    There is no better way to traverse the Bagan plain than by horse cart. It allows you to hop between temples without the constant turn of the ignition and in the heat of a Burman dry season, you can be happy that the only thing you are contributing to is the local economy and not global warming.

  6. Beating the sun.

    Every night in Bagan the slow pace of the day is broken by a mad rush to secure the best viewing spot to watch the sun set. A race to your location of choice however just means that the clop of your horse's hooves are all the more rhythmical.

    The tiny village of Mereseni is found off the beaten path between the capital city of Chisinau and the southern city of Cahul. Rich in vineyards and rolling hills, Mereseni is a picturesque look at old world Moldova.

    Boat Racing on the Mekong brings excitement and heartache. I watched from the coaches boat with the pink flag fell behind in the race.

  10. Game Face

    This young rower on the Laos Boat Racing team was focused. I loved his cowboy hat and bandana, making him look like a Laoation Cowboy....and definitely a competitor.
