  7. The New River Gorge Bridge

    This is the New River Gorge Bridge spanning the New River 876 feet below.

    The third weekend in October brings Bridge Day, they shut the bridge down and allow base jumpers to use the bridge to parachute from it.

    This is part of the Midland Trail, almost 180 miles long that includes the New River Gorge as well as Hawks Nest State Park.

    The US-19 New River Gorge Bridge was completed near Fayetteville, West Virginia on October 22, 1977, and this completed the last link in Appalachian Corridor "L".
