The statue of Hercules and Cacus is located at the entrance of the Old Palace, next to Michelangelo’s David commissioned by the republican counsel of Florence to celebrate their victory over the Medici.
The Medici commissioned the statue of Hercules and Cacus in 1525 – 1534, to celebrate their victory over the republicans. When it was viewed publicly it was ridiculed.
