There are few things as blissful as a hammock tied to the porch of a $5/night bungalow, a slight breeze rustling through palm fronds and your eyes resting on an ocean view.
This photograph was taken from my bungalow porch on the Thai island of Ko Phangan. The travelers in the water were from Israel, and for more than two hours they talked while sitting in the shallows.
Even children love getting involved in the parade and costume fun. Here a group of friends are dressed as little mermaids and are happy to be part of the parade.
Centre Island Beach, on Lake Ontario, on the Toronto Islands, is a short ferry ride and walk from Toronto's Harbourfront and -- unlike the beach at Hanlan's Point, where bathers have fought for the right to leave their swimsuits at home -- is an ideal family beach, frequented mostly by Toronto families.
