    This photograph was taken from my bungalow porch on the Thai island of Ko Phangan. The travelers in the water were from Israel, and for more than two hours they talked while sitting in the shallows.

    This Israeli traveler is enjoying a beer and the beach on the Thai island of Ko Phangan, famous for the monthly Full Moon Party which draws thousands of revelers from around the world. While that night of the month can get a little congested and crazy, all other days look much like this.

    Each month during the night of the full moon, up to 10,000+ visitors from around the world descend on a quarter-mile stretch of beach on the Thai island of Ko Phangan. In addition to music, dancing, and monstrous amounts of alcohol, the carnival like atmosphere of the party includes a fair amount of body paint, illustrated by the travelers in this photograph.
