  1. Brooklyn Bridge

    My mother grew up in the Bronx, married my father at 18 and moved to Ohio.

    As a kid, my family made a few trips to New York to visit my grandfather in Manhattan, relatives on Long Island and New Jersey, and my mother's childhood best friend on Staten Island.

    With the exception of riding the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan we'd done nothing typically touristy.

    Until last year, I'd not really spent any time in New York as an adult, and I'd been wanting to walk the Brooklyn Bridge for a long time.

    Wildman's Civil War Surplus is run by self-styled racist Dent "Wildman" Myers, born in 1930. He sells Civil War relics, political books, medicinal herbs, Confederate flags, White Power CDs and more of the like.

  3. Natural History

    The start of my 3 week work trip around the world, and had a few days of down time before the storm of airports and lecture halls to take in some Museums around London with my wife.

    Darwin's castle, and home to most of his research and findings.

    On the top floor, looking at the far wall. Each gilded fresco in the ceiling that represent every discovery.

    On the way up the Gran Via... spectacular architecture dominates Madrid.
