  1. Sequoia National Forest

    Sequoia National Forest is located south of the eponymous national park, and is a worthy detour if you're traveling north from LA. The forest features plenty of trails and campgrounds - and if you're in a sports car, Highway 190 is a fantastic drive.

    It is located perfectly as a goal or starting point for a hike through the landscape.

    The food is excellent with good sized portions for a very fair price.

  4. Hooker Falls

    Hooker Falls is located in the Dupont State Forest in Western North Carolina. It is about a ten minute hike down a gravel path that is well maintained.

    Grab a ferry from Sayville, Long Island (NY) to Fire Island and visit this unique location. The Sunken Forest is one of the last remaining maritime forests on the eastern seaboard.

  6. Armstrong Redwoods State Park

    A home to one of the largest groves of old growth redwoods, Armstrong's Grove is an incredible forest of some of the worlds largest trees. The grove has lots of trails and good picnicking areas.

    Sand Harbor is quite possibly the most picturesque spot on Lake Tahoe. It is located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe and is part of the Nevada State Parks system.
