90 miles north of Atlanta lies the Bavarian-themed village of Helen.
In November 1732, the ship Anne sailed from Britain carrying 114 colonists, including General James Oglethorpe. On February 12, 1733, Oglethorpe and his settlers landed at Yamacraw Bluff and, in an example of some of the earliest "Southern hospitality", were greeted by Tomochici, the Yamacraws, and John and Mary Musgrove, Indian traders.
Located just south of the small community of Waycross, GA, Okefenokee Swamp Park is the gateway to the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp. This is a private park (as opposed to the state and national parks which also access the Okefenokee), and entry fees run $12/person.
The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, located near Folkston, GA, contains 438,000 acres of the Okefenokee Swamp. The park offers hiking and biking paths, fishing, canoeing, and historical and wildlife exhibits.

Sapelo Island is located off the coast of Georgia, roughly midway between Brunswick and Savannah. The few residents of the island are African American descendants of gullah/geechee African communities, brought to the island as slaves.
In 1899, after the collapse of the socialist Ruskin community in Tennessee, the remaining members of the group moved to just outside of Waycross, GA, near the Okefenokee Swamp. There they established the socialist Ruskin Commonwealth.
Wildman's Civil War Surplus is run by self-styled racist Dent "Wildman" Myers, who was born in 1930. Meyers calls his store "The Best Little War House in Kennesaw." He sells Civil War relics, political books, medicinal herbs, posters praising defenders of the white race, Stars and Bars flags, and White Power CDs.
