  1. Purisima Creek Redwoods

    A wonderful redwood park with a creek running through it just outside of the coastal town of Half Moon Bay. It has about 20 miles of trails with everything from a a leisurely stroll to mountain biking.

  2. Santa Cruz California Yacht Harbor

    The best place in the world to live!!! I've been to dozens of great beach towns, and living near the harbor in Santa Cruz with its banana belt weather, gentle crowd of locals, and a few darn good places to have a beer and a burger, it's tough to beat this area.

    Santa Monica Pier opened in 1909. It was the age of top hats and hoop dresses, and when walking above the waters of the Pacific Ocean was a novelty.

    Located at the bottom of Colorado Avenue, off of Ocean Avenue, the pier's original success was attributed to both a roller coaster and the famed La Monica Ballroom.

  4. Saint Francis Cathedral

    The Neo-Romanesque Cathedral of St Francis (San Francisco de Asís) was built between 1869 and 1884 on a site occupied by several earlier churches. In a chapel on the north side is La Conquistadora, a figure of the Virgin brought from Spain.
